How Does It All Work?

Inventory App (IA) gives a car dealer website the ability to add vehicles to an online database which in turn displays them on their web page. This function makes it very easy for the dealer to add vehicles as there is no programming that needs to be done.

The dealer just fills out a web page form, selects the picture they have taken and saved to their local computer, and the Inventory App program does the rest.

IA not only makes it easier for the dealer to add their vehicles to the website, but even more important, it makes it easier for the customer to view them.

The customer can now view vehicles in the comfort of their home, at there leisure. They don't have to worry about tying up a salesperson getting information, or the car lot being closed. All the information is on the website for every vehicle.

General Inventory Page

There are two pages that display the vehicles. The first page, the general inventory page, displays all the vehicles with each vehicle's information taking up only one line.

On this one line it shows the vehicle's Status (Available/Sold/Held), Year, Make, Model, Vehicle Type, Vehicle Style, Odometer and Price. Each one of these items is in a column and each column can be sorted.

Below is a sample of the format of the inventory page. Try clicking on a column names and it will sort the vehicles either ascending or descending based on that column.

The Vehicle Detail Page

The second page is the vehicle detail page. You get to this page by clicking on any one of the vehicle lines on the general inventory page.

Normally clicking on the one of the vehicle lines moving your from the general inventory page to the vehicle detail page. But for this demo I have it setup to open a new page.

Go ahead and click on one of the highlighted lines above and you will see the vehicle detail page.

On the vehicle detail page more detailed information is shown. Important options like air conditioning, air bags, transmission type and so on are displayed. It is here that you can take a look at the picture of the vehicle. There is a smaller picture and you can also click on that picture and a larger more detailed picture will popup for your viewing pleasure.

Here is a sample of the smaller picture and the larger popup picture. Try clicking the picture below.

How to View the Different Vehicles

On the general inventory page, you can easily see a general over view of all the vehicles that are on the site. To make it easy for you to location what you are looking for, the vehicles are sorted by Make, Model and then Year.

So if you are looking for a Ford F-150 you just look at the MAKE column, which is sorted alphabetically, and go down to the F's. From there you just look over at the Model Column to the right and see if there are any F-150's.

When you find a vehicle you are interested in you just move you mouse over that line (the line background will turn light blue) and click once. This will take you to the vehicle detail page.

This page is the vehicle detail page. Besides the different options, pictures and information, about the vehicle you selected, there is in the right column a list of other vehicles that are on the site.

They are organized under three different headings. Vehicles that are the same Model as you are viewing, the same Make, and other vehicles that are in the same price range.

Navigation of Vehicles

You can also navigate though all the vehicles by using the First/Pervious/Next/Last series of buttons in the upper right corner. See below.

first previous next last [56/132]

The buttons move you from vehicle to vehicle. The text to the right of the buttons indicate in this example that you are viewing vehicle 56 of the 132 vehicles available for viewing.

Search Buttons

On the general inventory page there are search buttons. They are right above the list of all vehicles. The search button will look like these below.

The search buttons, when clicked, will show all the vehicle corresponding to the vehicle type on the button. So if you click the Button "All" you will get all vehicle, if you click "Cars" you will get all the cars and so on.

There are search buttons for All, Cars, Trucks, Vans, SUVs, RVs, Bikes, Boats and Sleds, but the buttons will only be visible if there are vehicles in those types.

So if there are no SUVs, there will be on SUVs search button. Also to the right of the vehicle type it shows on the button the number of vehicles of that type.
